Traveling Israel
Israel is a very attractive country for tourists. Although the main reason for such an attraction is a religion, this website is not concentrated on the religion, politics, fashion or anything of that kind of view. This website concentrated on active tourism such as hiking, trekking, mountain bike riding and touring in forests, valleys, mountains, along the rivers, wadis and deserts all over the country. Nevertheless, routes often are passing great historical, religion or geological sites as well. Moreover, this site specializes for tourists that are willing to self guide themselves through their active part of holidays in Israel. On this page you can find instructions for some basics of the self guide traveling in Israel. Self guided active traveling in Israel can be suited for beginners and for advanced travelers as well. There are lots of routs and places to travel in Israeli landscapes. Usually there are one or more alternative routes at the same place of interest so it might be worth to explore one place for couple of hikes or rides and get more familiar with that place, remember and feel the properties of that place much closer. On the other hand, in case of a short time, one can follow the featured travel routs to visit the most interesting places of Israel in very short time. Know Your Level of Traveling SkillsAll routes in this site are categorized by difficulty level of the travel. The difficulty level consists of two main properties such as physical difficulty and technical difficulty. Physical difficulty is a grade from 1 to 5 where 1 is physically easy route and 5 is physically difficult route. For example, 2 miles route can be easy enough for a family with little kids in case that the route lay along the river on a paved road on the flat landscape. This route is physically easy route to hike. On the other hand if the same paved route is 10 miles more then previous, the physical difficulty level is higher and if in addition to the distance the landscape will lay on a steep mountain, the difficulty level may be to hight to hike in one day even for relatively healthy person. In case of extremely physically difficult routes the level of physical difficulty marked as 5+. Technical difficulty is a grade from 1 to 5 where 1 is technically easy route and 5 is technically difficult route. For example, 2 miles route can be easy to hike with kids in case that route lay on paved road along the river, like in previous case. On the other hand, if the same distance of 2 miles will lay in the mountains, rocky and dangerous routes with trail along the cliff with some vertical ladders and so one, the technical difficulty is much higher and not necessarily suitable for kids. Routes with extremely hight technical difficulty level will be marked as 5+. Due to the different activity types there are different difficulty level calculators, suitable for each activity apart. This separation is due to the equipment differences. For example, in multiple day backpack the traveler will have to bring along a tent, sleeping bag, cooking equipment, water and food for at least 2 days. All that equipment will complicate the physical and technical levels of the route, thus the difficulty calculation for the same route for a one day ultralight hiker is different. Same rules apply to the mountain bike riding. Select the Place You are Interested To make it more easy to find a place for your activity, Israel represented in separated official geographical areas.
